Frequently Asked Questions

What rules do you use?

We follow International Rules (also called World Rules or Blackball Rules) – the unified ruleset endorsed by the WEPF, EPA, and Ultimate Pool. These are the rules used in major competitions. For casual play, whatever you’re comfortable with is fine.

What's the difference between "old rules" and International Rules?

The main differences relate to touching balls, two-shot fouls, and the “skill shot” (playing away from a touching ball). International Rules remove much of the confusion around these situations. Our staff can explain the differences if you’re unsure.

Is English pool suitable for beginners?

Absolutely. The smaller table means less walking, shorter shot distances, and quicker games. It’s the format most UK players learn on. The basic rules are simple – pot your colours, then the black.

Can I practice for league matches here?

Yes – our tables are maintained to a higher standard than typical league venues, which is ideal for practice. If you can pot consistently on our tables, you’ll find league matches easier.

Do you have teams in any local leagues?

We’re open to supporting teams and league play – get in touch to discuss options.
